0-6 → 9-8 reversed, against a 7-win undefeated pitcher… Jersey multi-home run Yankees surprise victory

The Yankees won a surprise victory over Tampa Bay, which has the highest overall win rate in the major leagues. After trailing 0-6, Aaron Judge turned the game around thanks to two home runs. Tampa Bay also chased after it, but the game ended with the Yankees winning by one point.

The New York Yankees started their winning streak with a 9-8 come-from-behind win against the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2023 Major League Baseball held at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, on the 14th (Korean time).

It was also a come-from-behind victory against Tampa Bay starter Shane McClarnahan, who had an average ERA of 1.76 with 7 wins and no losses in 8 games. Yankees starter Nestor Cortés allowed 6 runs on 7 hits in 4⅓ innings, but was able to turn the tables around with Judge’s home run.

Cortés got a timely hit from Taylor Walls in the second inning and conceded first. Still, he held on until the 4th inning without giving an extra point, but collapsed in the top of the 5th. After one out, Manuel Mago and Jose Siri were sent out on consecutive walks, and Francisco Mejia was hit. In this created one-out bases crisis, Yandi Dias was allowed a grand slam over the left-middle fence.

Even after all the runners disappeared, the atmosphere could not be rectified. Wander Franco doubled, and after two shots, Randy Arosarena hit a timely hit and took away the 6th point. The score widened to 0-6.

The Yankees immediately launched a counterattack. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Kyle Higashioka and Judge’s 2-run homers led the team to 4-6. In the 6th inning, after two outs, he made a big inning with a large number of points. With Anthony Wolf’s third base steal and opponent’s wild throw, they followed up with a one-point lead. After a walk by Glaber Torres, Judge’s second home run of the game turned the Yankees up 7-6.안전놀이터

The Yankees, buoyed by a come-from-behind turnaround, further widened the score gap with Oswaldo Cabrera’s two RBIs and timely hits with the bases loaded with two outs. They lost 2 points in the top of the 7th, but still had a 1-point lead. Clay Holmes’ 1⅔ innings, 3 hits, no runs, and Wandy Peralta’s 1 innings, no runs, locked the back door.

Judge led the come-from-behind victory with 2 hits in 4 at-bats, 2 homers and 4 RBIs. It is the second multi-home run game this season after the game against Baltimore on the 10th of last month. After the game, he said, “It wasn’t the start we hoped for. Still, what we can do is focus on the next game, the next at-bat, and the next pitch.”
