Defeated by last place → Fans ‘Porter OUT’… Chelsea’s board ‘still trust’

The Chelsea board appears to be supporting manager Graham Porter despite his poor performance.

Chelsea lost 0-1 to Southampton in the 24th round of the English Premier League (EPL) in the 2022-23 season held at Stamford Bridge in London, England at 0:00 am (Korean time) on the 19th. Chelsea, who failed to obtain points, remained in 10th place (31 points) in the league.

Chelsea desperately needed a change of atmosphere. Chelsea have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel at the beginning of this season and hired Porter. Porter has shown excellent leadership at Brighton, but has continued to perform below expectations after his appointment at Chelsea. After coach Porter led the team, they were recording 5 wins, 6 draws and 5 losses in the league. 메이저사이트

In particular, despite investing a large amount in the transfer market in January to empower manager Porter, there is no sign of a rebound. Chelsea invested around 329.5 million euros (approximately 458.2 billion won) this winter, signing Enzo Fernandez, Mihailo Mudrik, Joao Felix, Benoit Badia and Noni Madueke.

However, there is still no win after the transfer window is closed. It was an opportunity to meet Southampton in this situation. Southampton was the bottom-most team with only 4 wins in 22 league games before the match against Chelsea. The atmosphere was chaotic with the recent manager hardening, so the home team, Chelsea, was an opponent that could be caught enough.

But Chelsea couldn’t pick up a point. James Ward-Prowse’s free kick collapsed at the end of the first half. Afterwards, Chelsea launched an all-out war to score, but could not open the goal for Southampton. Eventually, Chelsea fans were outraged. They shouted ‘PotterOut’ and demanded a manager change.

Nevertheless, Chelsea appear to be backing Porter. Britain’s ‘Express’ commented, “Chelsea is supporting Porter despite his worst performance. The Chelsea board believes Porter is a figure who will win the hearts of fans in the end.”
