Pereira to win LIVGolf Washington DC…Stenson third
Mito Pereira (CHILE) is in the hunt for his first LIVGolf victory.
Pereira carded 10 birdies and five bogeys in the second round of the LIVGolf Washington DC ($25 million purse) at Trump National Golf Club (Par 72) in Washington, D.C., USA, on Monday (Aug. 28).
His 9-under-par 135 total puts him in sole possession of the lead. He is one shot back of second-place Harold Varner III.
Pereira joined LIVGolf this year. After a promising 2016 on the PGA of America’s secondary tour, the Confederation Tour, with three wins and one victory on the PGA of Latin America, Pereira is looking to make his mark at LIVGolf.
Starting on the second (par-4), Pereira bogeyed the first hole, which seemed like a setback, but he rebounded with three straight birdies on holes 3-5. After a bogey on No. 6 (par-4) and a bounce-back on No. 7 (par-5), Pereira traded birdies and bogeys on Nos. 9 and 10 before dropping another on No. 12 (par-4).
Two bogeys seemed to turn the tide, but Pereira kept the momentum going with three more birdies in a row on 13-15. Another bogey on the 17th (par-3) put him back on track, but he birdied the 18th (par-5) and then the final hole (par-4) to finish strong.
Harold Varner III (USA) is second at 8-under 136, while Henrik Stenson (SWE) and Kevin Na (USA) are tied for third at 7-under 137. Cameron Smith (AUS) is tied for fifth at 6-under 138.
Brooks Koepka (USA), the reigning PGA Championship champion, dropped four strokes on the day and is tied for 16th at 3-under 141. Danny Lee (USA) is tied for 33rd.안전놀이터
