PGA-European Tour partners with India to keep Liv in check

The US Professional Golf (PGA) Tour and Europe’s DP World Tour have partnered with India’s Golf Tour to respond to Saudi Arabia’s Oil Money-sponsored LIV Golf.

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour announced last weekend that they would partner with India’s Tata Steel Professional Golf India Tour (TATA PGTI) to collaborate in various areas for the development of golf in India, including giving the season’s prize money the right to participate in the European Tour for one year. .

The US-European Union recently formed a partnership with the KPGA Korean Tour, starting with the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO), and is swiftly developing a movement to strengthen solidarity with the Asian tour, which has great market potential.

This year, Live Golf partnered with the Asian Tour to create an international series, use it like a second division, and form a partnership with the MENA Tour, a gathering of North African and Middle Eastern countries, and the wires are spreading all over the world.

The core content of the partnership signed this time is to give one player with the highest prize money the right to participate in the European Tour, just like the Korean Tour. Accordingly, the top player in the TATA Steel PGTI rankings will receive full-time participation in the DP World Tour the following year. In addition, the next ranked player can advance to the final round of the DP World Tour Qualifying (Q) School, and up to three additional players can participate in the second round of Q School.

The solidarity with Asian countries that has been concluded so far is 3 DP World tickets for the top 3 prize money in Japan, and 1 ticket each in Korea and India. In addition, starting in 2024, the top 10 players in the Race to Dubai rankings on the DP World Tour will earn the right to participate in the PGA Tour.

Ajun Atwal, who won the Wyndham Championship, and

PGTI players will also participate in two competitions, including the Taylor Black Bull Challenge (23rd-26th), a second division European league, to be held in India in March next year. Both competitions are held in Karnataka, Bangalore and are included in the points of the players.

India, which is second to China in terms of population, is a market with great potential in the golf world. However, the player base is weak and the golf population is small. Six Indian players, including Jiev Milka Singh and SSP Chorasia, who won the Hero Indian Open in 2016 and 2017, have won 16 DP World Tour events. 메이저사이트

Ajun Atwal is the only Indian player to win both the US and European tours, winning the 2010 PGA Tour Wyndham Championship.

Founded in 2006, PGTI has 300 athlete members. India’s largest corporation, Tata Group, is participating as the main sponsor. Therefore, this partnership includes the meaning of the US-European Union’s preoccupation not to lose India to Live Golf.

CEO Keith Pelli.

“Our global system allows players from various international tours to compete on the DP World Tour, and we are delighted to expand this opportunity to Tata Steel PGTI players as well,” said DP World Tour CEO Keith Pelli.

“It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since Ajun Atwal became the first Indian player to win both the European Tour and the PGA Tour,” said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. It will help make your dreams come true.”

PGTI CEO Uttam Singh Mundi said, “The world’s best tours have opened many doors to players, and this will be a watershed moment for PGTI to raise the profile of professional golf in India.”
