Philadelphia reaches out to former Vogel, former Knicks coach

The Philadelphia 76ers are close to hiring a head coach.

“According to John Clark of NBC Sports, the organization has spoken with former head coach Frank Vogel.

The organization has interviewed Vogel, and previously reached out to former head coach Nick Nurse. “The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey summarized that Vogel, Knuth, and Mike Budenholzer are the leading candidates.

Philadelphia appears to be looking at both former coaches as strong candidates. Both are recent winners and have experience leading successful teams. Vogel has experience with the Indiana Pacers, while Knolls has plenty of coaching experience in Europe and the G-League.

In addition to these two, Philadelphia is also reportedly interested in former head coach Monty Williams, former head coach Mike D’Antoni, and former coach Sam Cassell (Philadelphia). It’s hard to tell if they’ve made specific contact with any of them yet, but it’s understood that they’re looking at multiple candidates.

Philadelphia is expected to consider big game operations heavily. They’ve made the playoffs in six straight years, but have had to settle for a second-round exit in all but one of those years. Not only that, but they’ve been drawn against the Boston Celtics for most of that time, so overcoming the odds is important.안전놀이터

However, there is a big variable. James Harden’s future. Harden is likely to exercise his player option this summer. He re-signed with Philadelphia last offseason, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be able to re-sign this time around. Locally, it’s more likely than ever that he’ll be traded.

If Harden were to leave, Philadelphia would be weakened. They’ll do everything in their power to keep Harden, but if he leaves, they’ll need to bring in some outside talent. With no viable guard on the market to replace Harden, expect Philadelphia to try to retain him.
